Closed circuit cooling towers operating principle is similar to the open circuit cooling towers. The most important difference between closed and open circuit cooling tower is water flowing through in heat exchanger tubes. Water from the reserve basin is sprayed via pumps onto stainless steel or galvanized steel heat exchanger tube where process water flows in.
The flow of air in the tower is provided with axial fans. Process water in closed circuit cooling tower stands 100% clean. The tower has the high heat transfer and low maintenance costs.
In this system the fan is designed induced draft. That's why, axial fans are located on the deck of the cooling tower. We also have applications with belt driven or gear driven depending on the customer's request.
TOWER BODY : The walls, the corner and middle pillars and water basin are made of GS (Galvanized Steel), SS (Stainless Steel) or -GRP (Glass Reinforced Polyester). If made from SS, a suffix “-S” is added to model name. If made from GRP, a suffix “-G” is added to model name. For GS, no suffix is added.
INTERNAL SUPPORTS : SS or GS type materials are used for Eliminator supports, water distribution supports and heat exchanger supports.
HEAT EXCHANGER : The heat exchangers are made of HDGS (Hot dip galvanized steel or stainless steel) or SS (Stainless Steel) If made from SS, a suffix “/SS” is added to model name. If SS material will use in heat exchanger, cooling capacity will reduced %4. For HDGS, no suffix is added.
ELIMINATOR : The drift eliminators are made of PVC films.
WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM : The water distribution system is made of PVC pipes. It helps homogenous distribution and sprinkling of process water in the cooling tower. The spray nozzles 3 used in the towers are made of Polypropylene. The water distribution system can be made of PP and GRP as well. This does not affect the performance of the tower.
FAN : In the RD CCCT series, radial / centrifugal fans are used. The radial fan is selected according to the desired air flow and the air side pressure loss (design criteria) against this air flow. The wings of this radial fan are fixed and can not be replaced. Our radial fans are manufactured from galvanized steel material. Depending on the project conditions, extra protective materials may be used if necessary, stainless materials may be used too.
